Posting Context Statement:

The Parking and Transportation Services ( PTS ) team is focused on keeping U of I moving.


Position Overview:

This position provides service to the University of Idaho by monitoring parking lot activities, maintaining parking facilities and assisting in event parking operations.

This is an essential position that may be called upon in the event of an emergency and/or university closure.

Duties may include the following:
  • Enforce parking regulations
  • Maintain equipment
  • Perform parking lot repairs and maintenance
  • Assisting the PIT CREW program with jumpstarts, vehicle unlocks and tire changes
  • Set up and remove traffic control and safety equipment
  • Other duties as assigned


Required Experience:

  • One year of work experience providing customer service in-person and via the phone


Required Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent


Required Other:

  • CPR /First Aid Certification or ability to obtain within six months of employment
  • Flagging certification or ability to obtain within one year of employment
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to meet policy requirements for driving university vehicles
  • Successful candidates will be subject to pre-employment and random drug testing as part of their employment with the University of Idaho per Federal Transportation Grant stipulations


Additional Preferred:

Ability to:

  • Safely operate different types of vehicles
  • Use computer software and applications for word processing, email, internet searches and data organization
  • Maintain simple records and prepare reports
  • Learn and apply rules, regulations, and guidelines
  • Understand and effectively carry out instructions
  • Observe and practice appropriate security and safety precautions
  • Lead temporary help during events and daily field operations as instructed by Parking Services Supervisor
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with angry and/or confrontational individuals
  • Ability to prioritize several requests at one time
  • Diffuse confrontational customers

Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

  • Knowledge of or experience working in traffic control
  • Good oral communication skills
  • Experience in asphalt repair and maintenance operations
  • Familiarity with University parking and policies
  • Experience operating of two-way radios


Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

  • Ability to:
    • Lift, carry, and/or otherwise move up to 50 pounds
    • Walk and stand for long periods of time
    • Work in inclement weather
